A Rich & Vibrant History

Christopher Columbus anchored in Montego Bay in 1494 and called it “gulf of good weather.” Following the British takeover, wealthy planters and merchants erected lavish townhouses and a parish church, adding luster to the city. During World War II the U.S. Air Force built an airstrip, which later served to introduce Montego Bay to visitors from around the world.
